Par fois on a pas besoin de mots pour transmettre ce qu'on veut dire ou s’exprimer...ces ne sont pas les langues qui sont sexys ou pas, ces sont plûtot les gens!!!!!! As a Medic, I will not always have the chance to speak freely with a patient (And yes! House is right about "everybody lies"): If he/she might not be conscious, then you know enough: THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG PRECISELY ABOUT THAT. But what if he/she is deaf mute? What the hell would you do with a patient that has no family or friends nearby that would help you understand what he/she is trying to tell, and you imperatively NEED to know in order to help, ergo, DO YOUR JOB? (and, of course, obviously he/she can't write )Personally, I've been thinking a lot about this issue- And from my point of view: This patient has way too much sh·"$"t going on and is our goal to understand what's happening to him/her... Not only by plain semiologics. But here, House has proven wrong: WE, doctors, NEED to communicate; to have a dialogue with our patient. Especially if it is still possible. When in front of a deaf mute, many people say to themselves: "Poor guy. He's unable to speak with me or anyone else". What if instead we (nurses, doctors, all health personnel and all who gets involved with living people) say to ourselves: "I HAVE A PROBLEM. I CAN'T COMMUNICATE WITH THESE PEOPLE" IT IS WE, WHO SHOULD MAKE THINGS EASIER TO THEM. WE SHOULD LEARN SIGN LANGUAGES. PS: I am trying to learn it. Is kinda hard, but with simple practice it becomes more and more.... simple.
